No date for this incident but the caption states H1428 came to grief during a night flight. Significantly it was the aircraft in which C.W.A. Scott had his first flying lesson when he joined the RAF in 1922. Scott achieved global fame as the winner of the London-to-Melbourne air race in 1934 flying DH-88 Comet G-ACSS. The Bristol was rebuilt as an army cooperation aircraft, issued a new c/n and shipped to India for service on the North-West Frontier.
