This view of a pair of 809 NAS Buccs shows the robust construction which earned the type various nicknames including 'The Brick'. XN982 was production aircraft no. 49, originally ordered in 1961 as an S.1 but not accepted until 3.65 at Lossiemouth. Damaged at Cecil Field, FL, some time after this photo, returned to UK as deck cargo and to 19 MU St Athan. Scrapped at Brough 7.92. XV868 behind was also scrapped in the same year, at Elgin This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
