Built in 1944 and delivered as 44-35661 to the USAAF. Was damaged beyond economical repair on August 12, 2004 at Rainbow Lake, Alta., during a high-speed aborted take-off. Despite dropping the retardant load on the runway, the pilot was unable to stop in the remaining distance and was seriously injured in the following runway excursion. This part of the storage area at Red Deer was cleaned out in May 2016. This photo is copyright © Erik Sleutelberg, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
