This structure, believed to be part of the former N116MP, is one of two former Mid-Pacific Air YS-11s that were bought by Atlantis Submarines Hawaii over twenty years ago and deliberately sunk off the shore of Waikiki to serve as artificial reefs and scuba diving sites. The crumbling mid-section of this aircraft now lies 115 feet (35 meters) below the surface, where it serves as a home for an assortment of marine life. Photo taken through a porthole window of one of the Atlantis submarines. This photo is copyright © Edward Kehler, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
