This is a replica of the aircraft that won the 1914 Schneider Trophy race as number '3' and was flown by Howard Pixton at an average speed of 86.75 mph (139.6 km/h) along the coast at Monaco. After he completed the course he opened up the throttle and flew another two laps and achieved a speed of 92 mph (148 km/h), which set a new world record for seaplanes. The replica was handed over to the museum 27 November 2013. This photo is copyright © Brian R Burrage, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
