VH-ULV destroyed by Japanese forces on January 21, 1942. Wom airfield, which had existed before the war, become the site of the surrender of the Japanese 8th Army to the Australians on September 13, 1945. The airfield was closed soon after and runway became part of a memorial park commemorating the surrender. Photo by Peter N Johnston.
