Taken during the bloody Battle of Peleliu, one of the Palau islands. The photo source is positive this is BuNo 14513, listed as lost on 6 November 1944 off Palau, belonging to VMF-114. That squadron landed on the Peleliu airfield on 26 September. Note the Curtiss Commando in the background.
