Recce Phantom from 501 Hikotai decelerating on the active at Hamamatsu during Air Festa 2019. The squadron was formed at Matsushima in 1961 on the RF-86F. In 1974, 501 Hikotai received its first RF-4Es and moved to Hyakuri. Woody Woodpecker, the squadron's emblem is visible on the tail.
