Victory Flight flying past at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 as a part of the centennial celebration of the RCAF. The Mustang and Spitfire Mk. IX carry the 'Y2' unit code of No. 442(F) Sqn RCAF "Caribou" that was credited with 56 victories between June 1944 and May 1945. Their last bomber escort mission was to support Lancasters attacking Berchtesgaden. The formation is led by a Hurricane Mk. XII built by Canadian Car and Foundry at Ontario. It is painted in the markings of F/O W.L. McKnight, DFC & Bar of No. 242 Sqn RAF that mostly had Canadian pilots. The Sqn flew in the Battle of France.

On display in the SEA War Gallery at NMUSAF. This MiG-17F was presented to the museum in 1986 by the Egyptian AF. It is painted to represent a VPAF MiG-17. These fighters were decimated in aerial battles over Vietnam. Outclassed, the MiG-17s were forced to pick their battles, intercepting strike aircraft and forcing them to jettison their bombs short of target. Heavily armed with one 37-mm N-37 and two 23-mm NR-23 cannon, the MiG-17 was effective at low altitude, being able to turn inside the heavier American aircraft. The type was flown by the 921st Sao Do and 923rd Fighter Regiment.

On display at the Sea-Air Gallery at Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Delivered to the USN in 1944, this is the sixth SBD-6 of 450 built, which was the last production model. It was identical to the SBD-5 but fitted with the more powerful 1,350 hp Wright R-1820-66 engine, making it slightly faster with a better service ceiling and range. The armored shield for the twin .30-cal machine guns is visible, as is the Yagi radar antenna under the wing. The carburetor intake scoop on top of the cowl has been deleted on this variant which is painted in the standard three-color camouflage.

On display at IAF Museum Palam. This Ajeet wears the emblem of No. 2 Sqn "Winged Arrows," which flew the fighter from1983-91. Successor to the battle-tested Gnat across two Indo-Pak wars, the equally diminutive Ajeet had a 22 feet wingspan, making it hard to spot. The dimensions were unchanged but several much-needed improvements to the Gnat were incorporated, resulting in a slightly heavier empty weight of 2,360 kg. The gun camera mount can be seen under the nose. The wheel track is a mere 5 feet. With just 89 built or updated by HAL, the Ajeet was effective in the ground-attack role.

Taxiing out at midday for its display during Aero India 2025. Renamed Yashas from Sitara, the indigenous Stage-II jet trainer has been resurrected after several aerodynamic modifications to fix spin recovery issues. Intended as a replacement for the HJT-16 Kiran II, it will help pilots transition from the PC-7 Mk. II to the Hawk Mk. 132. The intermediate trainer comes with a glass cockpit, HUD, mission computer, VACS and improved visibility. It is now powered by a FADEC-controlled 17.27 kN NPO Saturn AL-55I turbofan with auto relight that replaces the 14.12 kN SNECMA Larzac 04-H-20 engine.

Under restoration at Planes of Fame Air Museum. This Airacobra was taken on charge by the USAAF with s/n 42-4949. It served in Alaska during World War II. The long length of the rear-retracting, non-steering nosewheel can be seen. The gaps in the wing root are for the oil cooler and radiator intakes. The automobile type door frame is visible. This model was fitted with the V-1710-85 engine and a slightly larger Aeroproducts propeller, but it made little difference to the low top speed, rate of climb and poor performance at higher altitudes.

On display at Udvar-Hazy. Shortly after delivery on 6 Nov 1943, this P-38J was converted to a two-seat trainer, spending its time at Wright Field as an experimental aircraft. It was flown there on 16 Apr 1945 by Maj. Richard I. Bong, America's highest scoring fighter ace. He had planned to fly for an hour but the right engine blew up, cutting the test short. On 20 Jun 1945 it was earmarked for storage as a museum aircraft. The J had redesigned oil cooler intakes and larger radiator scoops. Turbo-supercharger cooling intakes on top have replaced the carburetor air scoop on earlier models.

On the apron at Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum. NASA flew variants of the Learjet for airborne astronomy including the Model 23, which was equipped with a 12-inch infrared telescope to study Venus. A little over hundred Model 23s were built between 1964-66, with this aircraft being built in 1965. The Lear 23 was powered by a pair of 12.7 kN GE CJ610-4 turbojets that could get the business jet to Mach 0.82 because of the high power-to-weight ratio. Thanks to the designs of the prodigious Bill Lear, Model 23 was soon surpassed in performance and comfort by the Learjet Model 24 and 25.
