Delivered to Braniff as N457BN in June 1978, it was sold to Fedex as N481FE and converted to a freighter in 1990. It operated the final Boeing727 service for Fedex on 21st June 2013 (from Indianapolis to Memphis). It arrived in Lasham in July 2014 for storage and was re-registered N727EL.
