From 1953 until 1964, SAC's B-47 units were deployed to Fairford and Greenham Common for 90 day periods. This did not only involve a full wing of 45 B-47s, but also 20 KC-97s to provide for refuelling. This particular aircraft went into storage at MASDC in February 1965.
