This was one of the C-47s built as a floatplane. Appears to have been converted to a standard C-47A by the time it went into service in the Pacific campaign during World War II. Reputed to have been refitted with floats during its time on the Philippines register initially as PI-C40 from 1946. Was a normal C-47A when it was dumped at Manila airport.
