Ex RAAF A68-187 and disposed of in 1958. Adastra Aerial Surveys planned to use it for aerial photography as VH-AGJ but this did not happen. It was ferried to Bankstown for spares for Illawarra Aviation's target-towing Mustangs. Businessman Hockey Treloar bought it in 1969 with a plan to install a RR Dart turboprop from a Viscount. The registration VH-UFO was reserved. The project was not completed and the aircraft was sold in the US as N919WJ. There it was rebuilt as a two-seat TF-51 with a Merlin engine. Astronaut Frank Borman owned and raced it. This photo is copyright © David Carter, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
