G-AOPY/VS633 was among the last of 28 Percival Prentices of the 247 obtained by Aviation Traders from the RAF to achieve civilian status. It first flew as G-AOPY on 21st July 1960 and was intended for the Managing Director of Tradair. It was however not certificated and passed to this Childrens Playground in Basildon by February 1966. When photographed the civilian paintwork had worn away to reveal the original RAF markings and crude ferry registration. It was reported as removed and scrapped at the end of January 1975 This photo is copyright © Terry Dann, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
