NASA based UH-1s at near by Patrick Air Force Base to support Space Shuttle operations from the 1980s. Pictured is former US Army 73-21779, one of three upgraded UH-1H Huey IIs now based at Cape Canaveral. The Huey II combines all new commercial dynamic components with a more powerful Honeywell T53-L-703 engine and upgraded avionics. International Space Station (ISS) resupply and commercial satellite launch missions keep Kennedy Space Center these days and in October 2020 the Hueys began being replaced by new Airbus H135 T3 helicopters.
