The first Viscount for Canada's Department of Transport was delivered in March 1955. Leased to Trans-Canada Airlines for the summer, it was used fro crew training to keep up with TCA's own delivery schedule of Viscounts. After return in October, the aircraft was used by the Department of Transport (later called Transport Canada) until 1982. Grounded by a crack in a wing spar cap, it was sold for parts. After usefull parts were removed the hulk was donated to Ottawa's airport manager and used for airport fire training. It was later broken up. This photo is copyright © Gary Vincent, and may not be used or published in any way without permission. It was added on 28 March 2021, and has since been viewed 458 times. |
