First based at Elgin AFB, FL in 1955, this Samaritan would later be based with Aeronautical Systems Division at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Pictured with the 117th Air Refueling Squadron, Kansas ANG from Topeka, KS, the aircraft would be transferred to the 127th Tactical Fighter Squadron, McConnell AFB, KS in 1987. Marked for preservation, it was flown back to Elgin AFB in 1989 for the U.S. Air Force Armament Museum. Deemed outside the museum's purview, the aircraft was transferred to the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal School in 2010 and placed on the range at Elgin as a target.
