Golden Gate was Formed in merger of Gem State Airlines and San Francisco based Air Pacific March 1, 1980. This Dash 7 was delivered new May 7, 1981, but Golden Gate had bought struggling Swift Air in January 1981 to increase their California presence. Unfortunately they had to cease operations August 20, 1981 when the US Air Traffic Controllers strike worsened losses beyond their ability to cope.
