Vancouver Island Helicopters (VIH) won the first air ambulance helicopter contracts on the BC coast initially with a Bell 212 based at Seal Cove in Prince Rupert and one and then two Bell 222UTs based on the south coast at Vancouver International Airport. This aircraft (C-GVIU) was imported from Japan (JA9627) in Aug. 1992 and later exported to the US (N622F) in Oct 1998 and later exported to South Africa where it was broken up for parts, according to Rotorspot. Helijet later won the BC Ambulance contract and has flown Sikorsky S-76As and S-76Cs from bases at Seal Cove and YVR. This photo is copyright © Kenneth I.
