Avro Vulcan XL361 was on a trans-Atlantic flight from Woodford, UK to Offutt AFB in Nebraska on November 13, 1981 when it suffered an inflight fire and made an emergency landing at CFB Goose Bay, Labrador. Rather than repair the aircraft and return it to the UK, it became the gate guardian for the RAF detachment at Goose Bay, which utilized a large military practice range in Labrador. The Vulcan and a CF-101 Voodoo are displayed in a park near the airport's ATC tower. Photographed at YYR during a fuel stop while flying as a passenger in a Bombardier Q400 to the Paris Air Show.
