17th Fighter Squadron F-16s participated in the 1983 Maple Flag exercises at CFB Cold Lake. 80-0536 would later fly with the 428th Fighter Squadron and in the Kansas Air National Guard with the 177th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron out of McConnell Air Force Base, KS. The aircraft crashed on January 24, 1991 near Beaumont, KS after a mid-air collision during training. The pilot successfully ejected.
