This rare, genuine DC-2 first joined Eastern in October 1934 as NC13736. At the outbreak of the Second World War in 1941 it was acquired by the RAAF and served as A30-11 with 15 FTS and 36 Sqn. It was later painted as PH-AJU to represent the famous KLM DC-2 which made a forced landing on the Albury racecourse during the 1934 England-Australia Air Race. As you can see, it is in the process of undergoing some restoration work. This photo is copyright © Phil Vabre, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
