One of the advanced aircraft brought to the US at the end of WWII, this rare two seat Me-262 was studied by the Navy. Given the bu 121448, it was struck off strength in 1947 and displayed outside with other axis aircraft at NAS Willow Grove, PA. Rescued from the elements in 1993, it was dis-assembled by The Me262 Project as a pattern for Me-262 replicas under an agreement with the Navy to return it fully restored. It went back on display at the Wings of Freedom Museum, NAS Willow Grove , PA in 2001 before transfer to the National Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola, FL in September 2010 This photo is copyright © Gary Vincent, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
