Allocated serial 66-8381, N901NA was delivered directly to NASA. It replaced an earlier NASA T-38 (63-8181 cn N5528) with registration N901NA that crashed February 28, 1966. Records show that all prime crew astronauts from the early space programs (Mercury, Gemini and Apollo) flew this aircraft.
