After the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 in the USA, Air California began flying to destinations outside of the state of California. This United 737 was leased from January 1980 to April 1981 until other aircraft ordered could be delivered. It's return to United coincided with the first deliveries of their new MD-80s.
