With 209 Squadron, the three vertical bars are the squadron marking at the time. The pilot survived the crash between German and Canadian lines and fled towards Canadian troops and safety. The aircraft was quickly repaired. On October 27 it was last noticed near St Denis in a dogfight with German Fokkers. Neither the aircraft nor the pilot were seen again.
