Built to a 1951 order (in the days when the USAF ordered more than 17,000 aircraft a year) and delivered in 1952 as an L-19A-CE, serial 51-12001. I don't know the exact history of this aircraft, but it seems likely that it eventually went to the R Thai AF before being 'demobbed' and exported to Australia, becoming VH-LQX on 28 August 1991. It's currently based at Essendon and owned by an Aviation Medical Examiner who uses it to fly, IFR, every Tuesday to Echuca for a clinic.
