This prototype de Havilland D.H. 77 single-seat low-wing monoplane fighter was designed by W. G. Carter and powered by a Napier Rapier I engine. This prototype, J9771, was first flown in July 1929. It is seen here in the New Typres Park at the RAF display at Hendon which was held on 28th June 1930. Note the centrally mounted telescopic sight to the front of the windshield.
