Pictured during some winter down-time in one of the hangars at Duxford. The markings represent N1977 of the Escadrille Lafayette flown by Sgt. Robert Soubiran, one of the first American volunteers to arrive in France after the outbreak of WWI. The Escadrille Lafayette was a unit of the French air service composed of mainly US volunteer pilots.
