Supporting the UK Special Air Service (SAS) in Afghanistan, this HC4A was modified with FLIR and additional ECM systems. The Sea King of 846sq was deployed to Kandahar supporting the UK Operation Herrick within the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The helicopter made its first flight on 1 May 1980 and was delivered to the Royal Navy on 3 June 1980. The Sea King was sold as spares only to Pakistan as one of seven surplus Royal Navy Sea Kings. It was handed over on 25 May 2017 This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
