This Corsair was built by Goodyear in Akron, OH during April 1945 and assigned to the USN serving aboard USS Intrepid. Afer the war she was transferred to the Naval Reserve and stationed at NAS Sand Point. On July 29, 1950 she ditched in Lake Washington following a non-fatal midair collision with another Corsair and was not recovered until 1983. Post-restoration she is now on display in the Museum of Flight although on loan from the National Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola, FL. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
