Photographer unknown. This evocative scene depicts this KLM "Seven Seas" starting engines at New York Idlewild. To the left are KLM L-749 Constellation PH-LDE and a TWA L-1649 Starliner, while on the upper right a Lufthansa L-1049 is parked. An American Electra can also be seen taxiing across the airport. The main subject of the photo, PH-DSB, flew with KLM only from 1957 to 1962. It then passed through the hands of several second-line owners before eventually being broken up at Fort Worth/Amon Carter in 1974. This photo was added on 25 August 2022, and has since been viewed 663 times. |
