This Vulcan was in the U.S. to perform in the Chicago Air and Water Show along the Lake Michigan waterfront in Chicago on 26 & 27 July 1980. All the military aircraft staged out of NAS Glenview, IL. which was just north of the city and a short flight to the show site. XL443 was in RAF service from 1962 through 1982.
