Point Cook was Australia's first military aerodrome, established in 1912. It was an ideal piece of flat land with access to Port Philip Bay for seaplanes and close to Melbourne. It was Australia's only military aerodrome until 1925 when Richmond, near Sydney, opened. This photo is copyright © David Carter, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
