Seen about a year from retirement and in the company of other British-built airliners. HS.748 G-ASPL would be lost in a tragic crash at Nailstone, Leicestershire. on 26 June 1981, after the starboard aft cabin door detached and became wrapped around the tailplane, causing a loss of control and an inflight break-up.
