Built in 1955 as RCAF 3698. Still in the basic colours of its first civilian owners, the Province of Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources. Seen here at its Huron Air & Outfitters base on Mackenzie Lake, Armstrong Station, Ontario. Turbined with a Walter engine in the winter of 2002. In December 2003, damaged beyond repair in a sadly fatal ski-equipped takeoff accident at a strip overlooking Blackwater Lake near Jellicoe. Eighteen inches of fresh snow on the runway retarded the reaching of safe flying speed and the fully loaded aircraft crashed, penetrating thick ice. This photo is copyright © David A.
