The Nyrop Monoplane was basically a copy of the Bleriot XI-2bis. In 1911 it was the first aircraft to serve with the Swedish military as Aeroplanet 1. It was to be used for coastal observation with the Swedish navy, but proved difficult to fly. Therefore the engine was used in another aircraft and the Monoplane was stored. Fortunately this historic aircraft survived and is now on view in the Flygvapenmuseum. This photo is copyright © Joop de Groot, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
