In the mid 60s, promoter / pilot Jack Canary arranged for new BU-133s to be built in Germany by Josef Bitz Flugzeugbau using original plans. While production of the initial five aircraft was underway, Mr. Canary was killed in a warbird crash in 1968. Only four aircraft were delivered (N4937 was the third off of the production line), but several more were completed from spare parts later on. The aircraft is pictured at AirVenture 2016 performing a perfect inverted pass. This photo is copyright © Gary Vincent, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
