The Ontario Provincial Air Service was founded in 1924 and is the world's oldest aerial firefighting agency, now know as the aviation division of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR). The MNR acquired its first AS350B-2 in the early 1990s to supplement its Bell LongRangers used for firefighting and natural resources work. This AS350B-2 was purchased from Eurocopter Canada in May 1999 and operated until April 2011 when replaced by a new EC130 and sold to Custom Helicopters in Manitoba. Photographed at the MNR Smoke Lake seaplane base heliport in Algonquin Provincial Park. This photo is copyright © Kenneth I. Swartz, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
