The Ontario Provincial Air Service was founded in 1924 and is the world's oldest aerial firefighting agency, now know as the aviation division of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR). The MNR acquired its first AS350B-2 in the early 1990s to supplement its Bell LongRangers used for firefighting and natural resources work. This AS350B-2 was purchased from Eurocopter Canada in May 1999 and operated until April 2011 when replaced by a new EC130 and sold to Custom Helicopters in Manitoba. Photographed at the MNR Smoke Lake seaplane base heliport in Algonquin Provincial Park.

Normally there would be beautiful mountains in the background of this photo. This was one of 233 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft fighting the worst fire season in British Columbia on record. A state of emergency lasted from July 7 until finally cancelled on September 15, 2017 as nearly 4,000 fire fighters battled new and merging fires.
