The J-1 was a two-seat primary trainer and, although similar in appearance to the JN-4, was more difficult to fly and so never gained the popularity of the legendary Jenny. This example is on display at the National Museum of the USAF has had the fabric covering on the fuselage removed to illustrate the wire-braced wooden construction typical for aircraft of that time.
