Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan about to set off on his famous flight to Ireland. Corrigan had been refused permission make the transatlantic flight and was supposed to be attempting a non-stop flight to Long Beach, California. 28 hours later he landed at Baldonnel aerodrome near Dublin. He claimed he had mistakenly flown the reciprocal heading to that planned. The Robin is now at the Planes of Fame Museum, Chino. Photo by: Rudy Arnold / Smithsonian Institution
