In 1991 Vertical Aviation Technologies introduced the Hummingbird developed from the Sikorsky S-52 using all new components offered as a kit. A new nose (based on the Bell JetRanger), powerplant and other refinements continued to be developed over the years to the present 300L powered by a Lycoming IO-540 Engine.
