The original E.1 Mew Gull, c/n E.20, first flew in March 1934. This E.2, c/n E.20A, was a longer aircraft which appeared in July 1935. Both wore G-ACND. Of course c/n E.20A and the same registration suggest a rebuild, but actually a rebuild of the E.1 was given up and the E.2 was a new aircraft. The E.2 was destroyed in an accident in France in October 1935. The abandoned hull of the E.1 survived at Luton to be burnt in 1945. Thanks Gordon Riley for the sensible version of the story.
