Initially operating as Turbine Cubs of Wyoming, Backcountry Super Cubs produced a modernized and improved version of the Pa-18 Super Cub that Piper introduced in 1949. This SQ-2 version was first introduced in 2009 and was available as a homebuilt kit. Improved versions , the Super Cub Rev II and Rev III have been developed since.
