Built to USAAF order as 44-41956 but delivered to the RAAF in 1945 as A72-176. Disposed of for scrap in 1948, the fuselage of this Liberator was recovered from a farm near Sale where it had been since 1952. Restoration commenced in 1988 and considerable progress has been made. The airframe is substantially complete inside and out (although the tailplane and fins are stored separately for the time being).
