Taken from the Queens building viewing terrace. This aircraft was delivered new to Tarom in 1974 so when I saw it it was only 4 years old ! In those days the Eastern European airlines were more likely to turn up with a Tupolev or Ilyushin but Tarom also had a fleet of 707's and 1-11's. Delivered new to Tarom as YR-ABC on 03 Jun 1974. To Amoko Airlines as 5N-KMA in Aug 2002. To First International Airways as 9G-IRL in Nov 2003. W/O at Entebbe on 19 Mar 2005. Crashed into Lake Entebbe in rain on its second attempt to land which was too low. The crew of five luckily survived.
