McDonnell Douglas built, and FMS serial 72-1171 first flew on 20 May 1974 and was delivered to the Luftwaffe on 20 June 1974 as 37+61 with JG 71. The F-4F then served JBG36 and later JG 74 (as pictured) is seen here while rocketing with full afterburners into the German skies. The Phantom II was retired in December 2006 and stored at Neuburg. It is preserved at the Wilhelm-Frankl-Kaserne (Germany) since April 2021. This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
