Bell X-2-1 and pilot Frank Everest after one of his 12 flights in this particular aircraft - one of two built. X-2-2 was lost in 1953. This aircraft and its pilot were lost on 27 September 1956 with pilot Milburn G. "Mel" Apt making his only flight.
