The AMI received the first of 45 C-119Gs in 1953, these later being supplanted by 25 C-119Js from Davis Monthan storage when C-130 deliveries were subjected to delay. The last flew in 1979. This example was one of five ex Indian AF C-119Gs acquired in the Congo where the Italians were contributing to UN intervention forces. It underwent ECM conversion in 1976 and was wfu at Pratica di Mare by 1979 after service with 71° Gruppo.
